j-hope is a South Korean rapper and member of the K-pop boy band BTS. Debuting in 2013 under BigHit, J-Hope and his bandmates became a global sensation with six No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 including “Dynamite,” “Permission to Dance,” “Butter,” Coldplay collab “My Universe,” “Life Goes On” and “Savage Love (Laxed - Siren Beat)” with Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo. Korean-language albums in the group’s discography include Dark & Wild (2014), Wings (2016), Love Yourself: Tear (2018), Map of the Soul: 7 (2020) and Be (2020). In 2018, J-Hope (commonly referred to as Hobi) dropped his debut solo mixtape, Hope World, and became the first BTS member to earn a solo hit on the Hot 100 the following year with his viral single “Chicken Noodle Soup” featuring Becky G. J-Hope unveiled his debut solo album, Jack in the Box, in 2022 — the same year he became the first South Korean artist to headline a major U.S. festival with his fiery set at Lollapalooza. In 2023, the artist took a hiatus to complete his mandatory Korean military service, with BigHit releasing J-Hope’s album Hope on the Street Vol. 1 in 2024 and an accompanying documentary series during his enlistment. In 2025, Hobi will embark on his debut U.S. solo tour.
