Biography

Missy Elliott is a four-time Grammy-winning vocalist, songwriter, producer, fashion icon and the first female rapper to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Hailing from Portsmouth, Virginia, Elliott began her music career as a member of the R&B group Sista and songwriter for the likes of Aaliyah, SWV and Ginuwine along with her childhood friend and longtime producing partner Timbaland. Her solo debut album Supa Dupa Fly arrived in 1997 and shot to No. 3 on the Billboard 200. Missy Elliott has gone on to sell 40 million records worldwide between six  platinum-certified studio albums and 11 Top 10 singles as a solo and featured artist. Meanwhile, she has developed a distinctive visual style with groundbreaking music videos for songs like 1997’s “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly),” 2002’s “Work It” and 2005’s “Lose Control.” Elliott released her most recent solo work, the Iconology EP, in 2019.
